Tiramisu is one of those desserts that never lose their charm.
This Italian classic with espresso soaked ladyfingers and layers of mascarpone topped with cocoa powder.
Its simple yet elegant dessert that can turns any meal into a celebration.
Ingredients:
250 g mascarpone cheese
3 large eggs separated
4 tsb sugar
1 cup strong espresso cooled
1 tbs coffee liqueur optional
200 g ladyfingers
Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions:
In a bowl beat the egg yolks with sugar until the mixture turns pale and creamy.
Add mascarpone and mix gently until smooth.
In another bowl whisk the egg whites until stiff and fold them softly into the mascarpone cream.
Combine the espresso with coffee liqueur if desired.
Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee just long enough to soak without breaking.
Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a dish then spread half of the mascarpone cream on top.
Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers and finish with the remaining cream.
Dust with cocoa powder and chill for at least four hours or overnight.
